The Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2024 is an ideal venue for engaging with regional partners on pressing industry issues, Marvin Test Solutions CEO said.

In remarks to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Major General Steve Sargeant, USAF (Ret.), CEO of Marvin Test Solutions, said, “The airshow provides a platform for important discussions about how we, as an industry, can address shared challenges and align with broader goals in defence and environmental responsibility.”

Cybersecurity and sustainability took centre stage as Marvin Test Solutions showcased its latest armament testing technologies, including its SmartCan system, at BIAS 2024.

“We have the most cyber-secure armament test set on the flight line today, found anywhere in the world,” he added, underscoring the urgent need for robust cybersecurity in defence operations.

“All countries need to be very concerned about cyber attacks. We’ve taken all the steps up front to ensure they don’t have to worry about security vulnerabilities when it comes to armament testing.”

Elaborating on Marvin Test Solutions’ role in the defence industry, Sargeant noted the comprehensive support provided to military clients across the region. “Marvin Test Solutions provides the test equipment from production all the way through the life cycle of that armament,” he said.

“We have a large presence supporting many different weapons and armament systems throughout the Middle East.” This lifecycle approach ensures that clients can rely on consistent support for their armament systems from start to finish.

Addressing sustainability, Sargeant highlighted the SmartCan’s design, which streamlines testing while reducing environmental impact and logistical burdens. “One of the biggest advantages of the SmartCan is that it removes multiple test sets from the flight line, which no longer need to be procured or sustained,” he said.

“In some cases, the SmartCan can take up to 10 test sets completely off the flight line, replacing them with a simple, reliable, handheld device that is both easy to maintain and highly effective.”

He explained, “The cost and time required for maintaining extensive inventories of test equipment are a huge burden for defence clients.”

“By consolidating these functions, we not only cut costs but also reduce the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and sustaining numerous test sets.”
